Fashion Gives Back

With many natural distasters occuring the world recently, ie: Japan, Haiti, and more, everyone has been attempting to give back. The Council of Fashion Designers of America including Diane Von Furstenburg and more held an auction for their initiative for Fashion and Friends for Japan Charity. The auction was held online and all proceeds were forwarded to Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Releif Fund.

Amid the distress with natural distasters, Egypt and Libya, and whatever is going on in our lives, we still need to stay fabulous. What better way to achieve the best of both worlds? A charitable fashion show you say? That’s what Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts said. The school conducted a fashion show where the proceeds went to the Dana Farber Cancer Organization.

How exactly did it work? Local boutiques donated dresses and other clothes to the event. Students that participated in the event modeled the clothes on a runway. What boy or girl wouldn’t want to feel like a model for a night? If the model chose to keep the article of clothing they wore, they would buy it and the proceeds would go to Dana Farber. Tickets were fifteen dollars and concessions were served. All of this money would also go to Dana Farber. A marriage of food, fun, fashion, and charity. Sounds like a great night!
