In sixth grade, we studied ancient cultures from Mesopotamia to Egypt to more, and I was always very interested. So, I was instantly fell in love with Chanel’s new bold trend - Byzantine inspired clothing. Above is a picture from the Chanel pre-fall/spring 2011 show in Paris at the Grand Palais. Even the venue reflected the clothes with an Ottoman Empire vibe. The salon was decked out in square pillows, patterns, and stained glasses as far as the eye could see.
The line was inspired by the rise from a circus performer to an empress. With gold details such as big buttons, structured black peices, and exotic jewelry, Every girl who sports these looks will look like an ancient princess. This look is great for evening wear but can easily be adapted to street wear. For example, try a mosaic flannel, crop top, or blouse with black leggings and heels with gold details. Some of the peices coming out from Chanel’s Constantinople-inspired line include knits with gold thread and gold chains, jewel-lined peacoats, and square-heeled boots.
Don’t just rely on ultra-expensive Chanel for this look though, be a dollar store diva! Look at this Allison Taylor Mosaic shirt for under $50!
