My goal here is to take expensive looks and designs that seem unaffordable, and find similar and cute looks for a much cheaper price. From the runway at fashion week, to the sales rack to TJ Maxx, or from the changing room at Saks Fifth Ave to the crowded changing room at your local Aeropostale. enjoy!
First off, happy new years/2011 everybody! Are we all making a super wish tonight at 11:11 , on 1/1/11? I sure am. As I was out and about in the city, besides the thousands of people under the influence, I saw what people were wearing. So, I thought I’d write a blog about what to wear while going in to the city. Do you have one one dress that is too fancy for school but too slutty for church or family affairs? Wear it in the city. All over there were high heels, huge flowers or headbands, and skirts and minidresses adorned with flowers and glitter. Sparkles and glitter are very in this season, so please take advantage of it.
For me, the perfect outfit for going out in the city would be: Some nice thigh-high or regular height leather or non-leather boots, a mini dress or tank/skirt combo (with glitter, structured shoulders, animal prints-whatever looks good at Forever 21), and a leather or jean jacket, or a solid cardigan. Don’t forget to accessorize! Go crazy with layers of goddy gold, silver, pearls, and more! These are all Do’s for going out in the city. This may sound expensive, but the stores on Newbury Street are not the only option. Great stores with great clothes are H&M, express, Forever 21, and Charlotte Russe.
Now, for some dont’s when adventuring out into the big city. Don’t forget towear leggings/stockings/whatever when wearing a dress or skirt. At least wear pantyhose. You will look trashy and unprepared. Don’t wear shoes that you can’t even walk in. The heels may match but you may have to suffice for the flats in the same color in order to avoid looking like you’re tipsy even before your first drink. Lastly make sure your peacoat or whatever you’re wearing over your dress isn’t longer than your dress, you look naked. Wearing a coat is good too, it adds to the outfit and no matter how hot you look, you look even more rediculous in a tank top in 30 degree weather.
